XE Pro R vs Sur-Ron Ultra Bee: The Price-To-Value Breakdown

August 20, 2026All Articles

If you are shopping full-size electric dirt bikes in 2026, two machines keep coming up: the Arctic Leopard XE Pro R and the Sur-Ron Ultra Bee. They target the same rider, they run the same size battery, and they are close enough on paper that the decision usually comes down to one question.

What do you actually get per dollar?

So that is what this article does. No hand waving about feel, no talk about which brand has better vibes. Just the published numbers, the arithmetic, and an honest note about where the Ultra Bee comes out ahead.

The prices

The XE Pro R is $5,799 from us, the official factory store.

The 2026 Ultra Bee is dealer-priced. At the time of writing (August 2026) we found it listed at $6,699 on sale against a $7,499 regular price at one large US dealer, and $6,499 at another. Sur-Ron sells through a dealer network rather than direct, so the number you pay depends on who you buy from and what promotion is running. Check current pricing before you commit.

Taking the $6,699 figure, that is a $900 gap, or about 13% less for the XE Pro R. Against the $7,499 regular price it is $1,700, about 23% less.

Now the interesting part is what that cheaper bike is carrying.

The price-to-value math

Raw specs are easy to skim past, so here is the same data expressed as what each unit of performance costs you. Using $5,799 for the XE Pro R and $6,699 for the Ultra Bee.

Value metric XE Pro R Ultra Bee Difference
Cost per kW of peak power $219 $273 20% cheaper per kW
Cost per Nm of torque $8.28 $12.88 36% cheaper per Nm
Cost per mph of top speed $81 $112 28% cheaper per mph
Power to weight 0.335 kW/kg 0.277 kW/kg 21% better
Cost per mile of claimed range $97 $94 Ultra Bee slightly better

On four of those five measures the XE Pro R is the better value, and not by a rounding error. You are paying roughly 13% less money for about 8% more peak power, 35% more torque, 20% more top speed, and 20 lbs less bike to throw around.

Where the Ultra Bee wins

Range, on paper. Sur-Ron publishes 71.5 miles at a steady 31 mph and up to 87 miles in Eco mode. We publish 60 miles.

We are not going to pretend that away, but it is worth understanding what you are comparing. Both bikes carry the same 74V 60Ah pack, which is about 4.4 kWh of energy either way. Identical fuel tanks. So the difference is not capacity, it is how the number was measured and how the bike is geared and tuned.

Sur-Ron states its test speed. Our 60 mile figure does not state one, and a bike making 26.5 kW and 72 mph is going to use energy faster when you actually use it. Ride either machine hard and you will not see 71 miles or 60 miles. Ride either one gently and both will surprise you.

If maximum gentle-riding distance is your single priority, the Ultra Bee has the better published number. If you want more power from the same size battery, that is the trade the XE Pro R makes on purpose.

Same battery, more output

This is the part worth sitting with. Two bikes, the same 74V 60Ah pack, and the XE Pro R pulls 26.5 kW and 700 Nm out of it while weighing 20 lbs less.

That combination is what you feel on a climb or coming out of a rut. Power to weight is the number that decides whether the bike lifts and drives or just spins and pushes, and the XE Pro R is 21% ahead on it.

The 20 lbs

175 lbs against 195 lbs sounds academic until you drop it on a hillside and have to pick it up, or load it into a truck alone, or hold it up at a stop on soft ground. It also matters at the other end of the day, when your arms are tired and the bike is still the same weight.

The lower seat height helps here too. 34.3 in against 35.8 in is an inch and a half, which is the difference between flat-footing at a stop and tiptoeing for a lot of riders.

Brakes and suspension

The Ultra Bee runs more suspension travel, 240 mm at both ends against our 215 mm front and 200 mm rear. More travel is genuinely useful if you are hitting big stuff at speed.

On brakes we publish exact hardware: 240 mm rotors front and rear with 4-piston calipers. Sur-Ron lists hydraulic discs without publishing rotor sizes or piston counts, so a like-for-like comparison is not possible from the published data. We would rather tell you the numbers than describe them.

What else the price difference buys

A spec sheet does not cover the part of ownership that starts after the bike arrives, and this is where buying factory-direct actually pays.

  • Genuine parts stocked in Los Angeles. Brakes, wheels, batteries, controllers, motors, chain kits, foot pegs, axles, headlights and kickstands for this exact bike, on a shelf in the US rather than on a boat.
  • We are the factory store. Not a reseller with a middleman between you and the people who built it. When you ask what is inside the frame, we can tell you.
  • US-based support that answers. Send us your order number and we will confirm the right part before you spend anything on it.

That last one is not a small thing in this category. Plenty of electric dirt bikes are cheap to buy and impossible to service a year later.

So which one should you buy?

Buy the XE Pro R if you want the most performance per dollar, you care about power to weight, you want a lighter bike you can pick up and load alone, you want published brake and suspension hardware rather than vague descriptions, and you want parts and support in the US.

Buy the Ultra Bee if maximum published range at a steady cruise is your single deciding factor, you specifically want 240 mm of travel at both ends, or you have a Sur-Ron dealer nearby you already trust and you value that over the price gap.

Both are real machines. We just think that when you divide what you get by what you pay, the arithmetic is not particularly close.

Methodology and sources

Arctic Leopard XE Pro R figures are our own published specifications for the current bike. Sur-Ron Ultra Bee figures are the manufacturer and dealer published specifications for the 2026 model as listed in August 2026, taken from the sources below. All figures on both sides are manufacturer or dealer claims rather than independent instrumented tests, and both brands measure range under conditions favourable to the number.

Value ratios are simple arithmetic on those published figures, using $5,799 for the XE Pro R and $6,699 for the Ultra Bee. Torque comparison note: Sur-Ron specifies 520 Nm measured at the wheel. Where two brands measure torque at different points in the driveline the figures are not strictly comparable, so treat the torque line as indicative.

Dealer pricing changes. If you are reading this well after August 2026, verify both prices before making a decision, and message us if you want us to walk you through the current numbers honestly.
